First Grade Art
Here is what your first grader will be learning in art this semester. |
In art this semester your first grader will be learning about the Elements of Art- Line, shape, form, color, texture.

Some art activities for us to do. |
1. Using your crayons write the color words using the correct color of crayon. (Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, brown, black). Next draw 3 things that go with that color . 2. Draw a picture using the lines horizontal, verical, diagonal, zigzag and curved. Add details to it. Add color. 3. Using the basic geometric shapes (circle, square, triangle and rectangle) create your own drawing. Add color. 4. Create a drawing of 3 free form monsters. Add eyes, noses, mouths, hands and feet. Add color. 5. Create a picture using only the primary colors of red, yellow and blue. 6. Show texture in a drawing by drawing a furry dog or cat. 7. Draw a self portrait of yourself. Put a twist on the self portrait by drawing yourself as royalty. Add color. 8.Draw a large fish that takes up the whole paper. Use shapes, numbers, and letters to create patterns inside the fish and color it. 9. Use geometric shapes to draw a castle. Decide what type of castle you would like it to be (haunted, tooth fairy, princess castle, etc,) Use your imagination to draw other details to your castle such as flags, bridges, windows, or even a dragon flying above your castle. Add color. 9. Imagine being an anstronaught in space. Draw what you would find on your space adventure. What planets and stars would you see? Would you travel with a jet pack, a space ship or a rocket? Add color. 10. Chcek out the live cameras at the San Diego zoo. Choose an animal to watch. Draw a picture of that animal and their friends.
