Here is what your fourth grader will learn this semester in art. |
Our fourth graders will learn about the elements of Art- Line, Shape, Form, Texture, Color, Contrast, and Space.

Here are some art activities to try at home. |
1. Students will create an abstract picture using the different kinds of line.
2. Students will draw the first letter of their name in a large block letter. Divide letter into 8-10 pieces. Draw different zentangle designs in each piece of the letter. Color in with black and white patterns. 3. Students will draw the 6 3D forms (sphere, cylinder, cone, pyramid, cube and rectangular prism). Students will accurately shade in the 3D shapes. 4. Students will create a color wheel using primary and secondary colors. 5. Students will create a picture and color in with a complementary color pair.(red-green, blue-orange, or yellow-violet). 6. Students will find an artwork where an artist uses contrast in an artwork. 7. Students will create their own artwork showing conrast either using color, size or shapes in the artwork. 8. Use geometric and 3D shapes to draw a haunted house. Draw ghosts, and other creepy objects to make a sppoktacular picture. Then add color the picuture using the monochromatic colors of black, grays, and whites. 9. Gather 4-5 objects and place them together on a table. Make sure to place some of the smaller objects in front of the larger objects.Use a pencil and a piece of paper to draw what you see. Add a table line. Figure out a light source that is shining on this picture. Add color using highlights and shadows. 10. Google Claude Monet's "Water Lillies". Examine the details and layout of creating a landscape with a pond. Create your own landscape inspired by his painting and include his bridge. Draw other plants and flowers. Include any animals that you might see in a garden with a pond. Color your work with analagous colors. (Analagous colors are colors that are next to each other on the color wheel). |
