Third Grade Art
Here is what your third grader should know in art this semester. |
Our third graders will learn about the Elements of Art-Line, shape, form, texture, color, contrast, and space.

Here are some art activities to try at home. |
1. Create a picture of your house in the future using different kinds of line. (horizontal, vertical, diagonal, curved, zigzag, wavy, broken and parallel). 2. Create a fantasy picture using geometric, free form and organic shapes. 3. Divide a piece of paper into 6 rectangles. In each rectangle write the following terms (sphere, cylinder, cone, pyramid, rectangular prism and cube). Draw these 3D forms in each rectangle. 4.Students will fold a piece of paper in half. Draw a picture of a house on each side. Add details. In the first picture color or paint with three warm colors (red, yellow and orange). In the second picture color or paint with the three cool colors (blue, green and violet). 5. Draw a beach. What kinds of things are in the water (fish, people, boats)? What objects do you see on the beach (umbrella, towel, beach balls, shovel, etc.)? Add a lot of details. Then add color. 6. Fold a piece of paper in half. On one side, draw a day time landscape with animals that come out in the day time. On the other side, draw a night time landscape with animals that come out in the night time. Color the "Day Time" scene with just WARM colors and color the "Night Time" scene with just COOL colors. 7. Design and color a new cover of your favorite book, movie or video game. (No Weapons). Add color. 8. Use 3D shapes to create a candy house. Draw lots of candy and sweet treats to decorate the house. Color the picture. 9. Tell someone in your family 3 things that you have learned about that artist. |
